Vincent Okeyo new intern at the Institute |

Vincent Okeyo is an intern at the Åland Islands Peace institute from 14.9.2011 to 30.3.2012. He will be working with translations and proof reading, helping out with information and communication tasks and assist in the work with the library and publications of the ÅIPI.
Vincent has written an introduction of himself:
My name is Vincent Okeyo, I was born in Rusinga Island, Kenya, in East Africa. I had my earlier primary and secondary education in Nyanza area of Kenya before proceeding for a diploma in sales and marketing in the capital, Nairobi. In the early 90s, I worked as a sales representative in a family owned business in Nairobi, Kenya. By mid 90s, specifically 1995, I had a scholarship to study forestry Mechanics in Finland. Swedish was the language of instruction for this studies and in that particular institute hence I had to be competent in Swedish before starting this studies. This I did by enrolling for a language course in Kronoby Folkhogskola. After my graduation from Forestry Mechanics studies, I did enrol at Vasa University of Applied Sciences to study for a bachelors degree in Business Administration, majors in International Business. In the year 2001, I graduated from this institution and pursued a post graduate Diploma in International Cooperation at st.Micheal University of Applied Sciences. I have also studied hotel receptionist and conference at Åland Hotel and Restaurant School. Between 2007-2008, I was abroad in United States studying to become a Development Instructor. After my graduation I came back to Finland where I have been having short and periodic employment here and there. My last work was with Mariehamns stad where I had a two year contract. Currently, I am enrolled and the Medborgarinstitutet (Medis) institute for a years course in Intergration .ax. hence my location at Åland Peace Institute for my practical attachment.
